The talents and gifts each sister brings to the community strengthens our contribution and presence to the world. Collectively, we believe our spiritual and material gifts will assist the Church in furthering the Kingdom of God.
To live simply…
We make a deliberate choice to live a simple lifestyle so that our energies can be offered to others. The simplicity of our lodging, our clothing and all aspects of our daily living allows us to be conscious of the many needs of God’s people.
To live community…
As a community of women we find support, affirmation and caring in one another. This gift of love unites us and provides an atmosphere for growth and openness to the Spirit.
To heed the cry of the poor…
Together we are committed to minister to the poor and to work for the cause of justice, peace and charity reflecting always the love and joy of the Spirit. We do this through our efforts in spiritual formation, Christian education, care for the sick and elderly, and pastoral ministry.
To work within the Church…
We are an ecclesial community, and our ministries are performed in accordance with the ethical and religious directives and traditions of the Catholic Church and the guidance of the Bishop of Pittsburgh.
As Sisters of the Holy Spirit, we proclaim the Kingdom of God in Christ-like simplicity, in an unassuming manner and without affectation in our daily living, being always open to the movement of the Spirit in our lives. We have a particular devotion to the Blessed Mother, filled with a strong desire to model ourselves after her perfect example.
