Sister Patricia Eleanor Myers Celebrates 25th Anniversary

On May 1 Sister Patricia Eleanor Myers celebrated her 25th anniversary with the Sisters of the Holy Spirit, her family and friends.  Following the Mass celebrated by Rev. Robert Guay, V.G. all enjoyed fellowship and celebrated with Sister Patricia Eleanor at a dinner in Martina Spiritual Renewal Center.

Sister entered religious life from St. Gregory Parish in Zelienople and is currently ministering as a Pastoral minister there.  She also does Pastoral ministry at Holy Family Parish n the Greensburg Diocese.

As a member of the sisters of the Holy Spirit she serves on the leadership Team as well as Vocation Director.  Previously Sister Patricia Eleanor taught in several schools in the Pittsburgh and Greensburg Diocese.

Sister is the daughter of the late Harold and Joanna Myers, sister of Joanna Burgard and Deborah Schaefer.

Sister says she entered religious life when she heard the call to serve God’s people.  This is her chosen path to happiness in life.  Each day she becomes more aware of God’s love for her and the Holy Spirit empowering her to share His love for others.

 

Sister Cynthia Wessel Receives the Golden Apple Award

Sister Cynthia Wessel, principal of St. Agnes School, West Mifflin received the Golden Apple Award for Principals on June 1, 2010.  Sister was nominated by parent, Kelly Kovalsky, for her dedication, love and concern for the students and parents of St. Agnes School.  Mrs. Kovalsky stated: “that I was warmly welcomed to come and visit St. Agnes School when I called about enrolling my two daughters.  After my visit and throughout the last three years St. Agnes School has been home away from home for my daughters.  On many occasions I have been able to pop in on Sister Cynthia for guidance and support.”

Father Joseph Grosko, administrator of St. Agnes and holy Trinity Parishes stated that Sister is a blessing to him.  She is Coordinator of the CCD and RCIA programs, guides the Pastoral council of St. Agnes Parish, manages the finances for the Parish Festival, assists in obtaining volunteers for the parish festival and the Holy Trinity/St. Agnes Fish Fry. Sister includes these responsibilities just to name a few in addition to being principal of St. Agnes School.  Her goal is to keep St. Agnes School a school of exceptional academic quality, financially stable with a stable enrollment.

Mrs. Cecilia Grandillo, Educational Consultant, describes Sister Cynthia as a woman of energy and as a principal who is on top of everything.

Sister Cynthia says she relies on the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all of her undertakings.  Prayer is the key to all success.  Sister contributes her success at St. Agnes school to the students who are “the best”, and the parents and staff for their support, and the parishioners of St. Agnes who truly support the school.

Sister Cynthia is the daughter of Helen and the late Albert Wessel, sister of Albert, Kevin, timothy, Paul and Cindy Hoffman.
